be spontaneous
If you always live life by the rules you miss out on so many other things. I'm a very organized person and always need to plan ahead and have set goals. But sometimes people need to take a step back and just enjoy the everyday moments. I went to a movie last night and after unexpectedly my friend and I went out for drinks. Besides the fact that we ended up getting a little too drunk we had fun. We laughed and drink wine and Jack Daniel's like it was going out of style. Sometimes you just have to go for things and bask in the fun of life!

listen to others but follow your heart...
Many of us before making a major decision in our lives feel the need to consult with others. Whether it is our parents, friends, partners, or family we look for that stamp of approval. I know that when it comes to myself I always have to ask someone else to get an opinion. And yes sometimes I just look for someone to agree with me. However, we all know better than this. We ultimately know that even with everyone's input and comments that we have to do what's in our hearts. But why do we struggle so much with this? Why can't we just do what we feel is right? In the past few weeks I've had to make a major choice on whether or not to let someone who hurt me back into my life. I had all my family and friends telling me it was a horrible idea and that I should stay away. But we all have that voice. That little voice in our heart that tells us what to do. Now, I'm not saying that voice is always right but the person who knows you best is yourself. Not your mom or dad, best friend, or lover. YOU know what works and what doesn't. Eventually, I made the choice to let this person back in my life. Not completely but enough to cause problems with others. But instead of being upset at how everyone is going to react and what they are going to say, take control. Sometimes people need to be reminded of their boundaries and that their stance on things aren't always wanted. I've said before, this blog is about HAPPINESS and doing the things that make you happy. Once you stop living for others and start living for you your life will prosper. FOLLOW YOUR HEART.

a smile goes a long way
So of course my car decided to stall and die three times during my commute on Thursday so I was forced to take it to the Jeep dealer. The problems I have had with this car is unreal and I should have let this car go a long time ago but I can't seem to part with it. Im in love. However, since I'm car-less I had to take the train this Tuesday morning to class. I have to say I found such enjoyment in sitting on the bench waiting for my train with my Dunkin Donuts coffee and people watching. We really have some characters around us. But I noticed during the commute that people seemed sad and bothered. Now I'm sure some commuters were hungover or extremely tired from the weekend of partying but Penn Station seemed gloomy. Now since this blog is about finding happiness I found happiness today in simply smiling at others who needed some cheerfulness in their morning travels. You never know the struggles and hardships people go through so taking one second out of your day to smile can make a difference in someone's life. So turn that frown upside down and show off your beautiful smile!

the little things that can make you happy
So as I was driving home yesterday I was feeling kind of down. All this time in the car makes me over think so many things and my mind just goes wild. However, it was one of my best friend's birthday and I had to focus on what to get him. Once I figured out what I was going to get him I realized that right next to the store I was purchasing his gift from was a shoe store. Not just any shoe store, Marshall's Shoe Store, can we say most amazing deals ever! So I decided I was going to make a purchase. I know for some women shopping gives them a rush and they feel the need to buy so many items out of impulse. However, for myself I wanted to put on a sexy pair of heels and feel beautiful as I strutted out the door to enjoy some drinks for my friends birthday. Now listen, sometimes we don't have the money to indulge into the types of things we want but in some cases we need to do a little something that make us happy. By purchasing a sassy pair of red heels I felt wonderful. A simple $28.00 pair of heels kept a smile on my face all night. Every so often we need to stop always doing for others and worry about the person who matters the most, ourself. If you keep putting yourself last you wont achieve your goal of happiness. So ladies and gentlemen, If you feel the need to treat yourself to a few drinks with friends, a new dress, or maybe even that vacation you have been saving for, JUST GO FOR IT! Find that happiness!

welcome to happiness
So the last time I wrote a blog it was in my freshmen composition class in 2009. I hated every minute of writing in that blog because I felt restricted and not able to truly express myself. However, this time around new blog, new start. To kick start my summer I will be commuting Monday-Thursday from May 21st-June 21st from Long Island to New Jersey. I thought I hated the Belt Parkway before well now I hate it even more. But through all these commutes, homework assignments, wasting money on gas (thank god for New Jersey in that sense though) it is important to find happiness in these everyday situations. As miserable as I was on Monday morning during my three hour travel I had to find laughter. I was once told that everyday is a choice. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be miserable. Not everyday is going to be perfect, sunny, and filled with smiles but it's important to strive for bliss. Everyone's life is filled with different situations and hardships but we all want one common goal of true happiness. I intend to use this blog to share my stories of my life which I believe should be a reality show and how to during times of sorrow to find a smile!
