welcome to happiness
So the last time I wrote a blog it was in my freshmen composition class in 2009. I hated every minute of writing in that blog because I felt restricted and not able to truly express myself. However, this time around new blog, new start. To kick start my summer I will be commuting Monday-Thursday from May 21st-June 21st from Long Island to New Jersey. I thought I hated the Belt Parkway before well now I hate it even more. But through all these commutes, homework assignments, wasting money on gas (thank god for New Jersey in that sense though) it is important to find happiness in these everyday situations. As miserable as I was on Monday morning during my three hour travel I had to find laughter. I was once told that everyday is a choice. You can choose to be happy or you can choose to be miserable. Not everyday is going to be perfect, sunny, and filled with smiles but it's important to strive for bliss. Everyone's life is filled with different situations and hardships but we all want one common goal of true happiness. I intend to use this blog to share my stories of my life which I believe should be a reality show and how to during times of sorrow to find a smile!

I like your purpose and it's very well defined that you want to find happy moments even in sad situations. This definitely relates to many people in the world who are miserable and can be given hope by your posts. Your blog is not busy at all and is easy on the eyes.Very good post so far.
ReplyDeleteGood job defining your purpose.
ReplyDeleteI have a long commute, too (though shorter than yours, thank God!) I spend about 10-15 hours in my car per week - driving is almost a part time job. It sucks but listening to music on the way helps. :)
I'd like to hear more about why you chose to come to Kean (and not live here) when you live so far away.
Valerie, I believe that this is going to be a very inspirational blog. I can understand your purpose for writing and I am glad you are doing this. There are people who feel as though they are constantly getting kicked while they are down and your blog is like a breath of fresh air. It's true, we need more happiness in our lives and I think that this blog will not only help you to feel that but to help others who read it as well. Good luck!
ReplyDeletei initially thought that your purpose was simply to write about your dreadful daily commute. i like the twist on not just your physical destination, but your mental destination to happiness as well. this post gives the reader a clear idea of your intent.
